Byron Yoga Centre is pleased to welcome Rushika Parikh from Chatswood on an all-inclusive, seven-day retreat with us in Byron Bay in January and a Coma-Toes yoga pack of goodies, as the winner of our Mind Body Spirit competition. Rushika was one of several hundred people who entered our competition, held in conjunction with Coma-Toes, at the recent Mind Body Spirit Festival at Sydney’s Darling Harbour.

For those based in and around Sydney, a part-time residential teacher training course at Govinda Valley Spiritual Retreat Centre could be just the ticket, combining yoga-studies immersion with day-to-day life.
For those of us with jobs, relationships or children, taking a month or two off to live in Byron Bay and complete a full-time course is the stuff of fantasies. Byron yogis salute the sun for charity |

After a night of steady rain, Byron Bay yogis were blessed with a clear, albeit slightly soggy sunrise, in which to perform 108 Salutes to the Sun. Over 50 keen yoga students and teachers gathered for the Yoga Aid challenge at Main Beach Byron to do their part in raising money for children’s charities.

Yogic masters including Simon Borg-Olivier, John Ogilvie, Twee Merrigan and Mark O’Brien gave packed classes and yogic lectures to a full house at the Sydney Yoga Expo on Sunday, October 19. Byron Yoga Centre sponsored this year’s expo in line with the Centre’s philosophy of the benefits of yoga rippling out to advantage wider society, and tied in well with this year’s Expo theme of ‘Come as one, bring two.’
