The Bliss Baby Intensive is designed to equip you with a greater knowledge, confidence and a more comprehensive ‘tool kit’ of appropriate asanas and practices for safely teaching pregnant women, during all stages of pregnancy,
as well as confidently guiding postpartum women.

This is an ideal course for teachers or trainees who wish to specialise in the area of conducting yoga classes for pregnant woman or new mothers.

We will cover the theoretical and practical applications for:

  • Contraindicated / indicated poses for the three trimesters
  • Asanas for common back problems & ailments during pregnancy
  • Yoga poses & practices to prepare for birth (active birth positions) & the stages of labor
  • Contraindicated / indicated poses for the post natal period
  • Asanas for common back problems & ailments post-natally
  • use of props in pre and post natal classes
  • Conducting a prenatal yoga class – sequencing ideas etc.
  • Conducting a ‘Mums n Bubs’ class – sequencing ideas (including baby yoga)

* Included in the course package is your own DVD showing a Pregnancy and Mums n Bubs yoga class in action - an excellent teaching resource.

Prerequisites
The Intensive is suitable for yoga teachers and teacher trainees (at level 1), and anyone interested in finding out more about the benefits and applications of yoga pre and post natally.

The instructors

Ana Davis has been teaching yoga for 11 years and is founder of Bondi Bliss Yoga Studio in Sydney. Ana has been specialising in the area of teaching and training teachers in pre- and post-natal yoga for the last 5 years. Ana writes regularly for the Australian Yoga Life and Wellbeing Magazines specialising in women’s health and is on the faculty of teachers for the Byron Yoga Centre Level I & II Teacher Trainings. She also holds a Diploma in Remedial Massage. As mother to a 4 year old, Ana is passionate about sharing the benefits and joys of yoga during pregnancy and early motherhood.

Anna Watts is a qualified Childbirth Educator who has been guiding women and their partners through the journey of pregnancy and birth since 1990. Anna will lead the session on Birth and the Stages of Labor.

  • Friday, 17 October: 4.00pm – 7.00pm
  • Saturday, 18 October: 9.00am – 4.00pm
  • Sunday, 19 October: 9.00am – 4.00pm
or: Friday 27th - Sunday 29th March, 2009 (same times as above)

Cost
The cost for this intensive is $280 and includes lunches and afternoon teas on Saturday and Sunday, and two class DVDs. An $80 non-refundable deposit is required to confirm your place in the weekend course.
